Hello Everyone, Some of you may know, Joe is not well at all ! His spine has almost completely degenerated between L5 - L1 and even higher than L1. He cannot walk and just to move has to use this nice motorized chair they built for him. Some days he cannot even speak and all the nerves and nerve endings in that area short circuit (best way to describe) and all hell breaks loose in his body. It is like someone sent 50,000 volts through his body. He describes the occurance being like when he got Tayser certified and actually got hit with a tayser himself. Within the next week or two the Neuro surgeons will admit him into St. Vincents Hospital and attempt to rebuild that area, success is essential for Joe to even walk again. His spinal canal (where spinal fluid normally is) is completely blocked in that area and there is no spinal fluid there either.
When we talk, He only ask for prayers. If you know him, you know he has a deep belief in GOD and what God can do, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers, if you know Joe, you know he really loves you, he loves all his friends as family. Thanks !
On April 14th, Dr. Colby Maher performed a 14hr surgery, rebuilding the damaged vertebrae and spine from L5 through L1 and made tremendous progress, most problems were addressed and now we begin the next stage of recovery. He is in physical therapy and working hard. However parts of his lower body are still without feeling and strangely enough contains a great deal of pain. Pain Mgmt, is helping tremendously and has found a medeicine to treat the pain without using the normal prescription of heavy opiods. The Journey continues ! ! Thanks ! !
